Where to Make a Private Crypto Swap: New Rubic Private Mode

The Rubic app already compares routes to find you a better rate. Now it’s also an aggregator for private routes. Pick a pair as usual, and next to the regular routes you’ll see options from Houdini Swap, RocketX and ClearSwap (with more to come) marked “private”. Choose one, and the wallet you send from and the wallet you receive in won’t appear directly connected on-chain.
That’s the feature. Here’s why it matters.
Your next wallet is easy to find
Anyone with your address can read your wallet: what you bought, when you sold, where the money went afterwards. You post a good trade, or a tracker tags your address as worth following, and your next move has an audience.
The leak is usually the transfer. You take profit and send it to a cold wallet, and the cold wallet is now on the map. You top up a fresh address with gas, and you’ve introduced it before using it. You bridge to Solana to try something new, and the bridge links both ends. Changing the token or the chain doesn’t break the trail. It makes it one step longer.
The people following that trail aren’t always curious strangers. Some trade against your exits. Some scan for balances worth targeting. And following a wallet no longer takes skill: anyone can now ask an AI tool to trace one for them.
Privacy is now one of the routes
Rubic already compares DEXs, bridges and intent providers to find your route. Private routes now sit in the same list.
That changes the question you have to answer. You don’t need to research privacy tools, pick one and learn its interface. You only decide whether this particular transfer is worth keeping quiet. The private quote sits next to the regular one, showing how much you’ll receive and how long it should take. Trading from a non-sensitive wallet? Take the regular route. Moving profits to a wallet you’d rather keep to yourself? Take the private one.
A standalone privacy service can’t show you the comparison across several providers. It quotes its own route and nothing else, so you never see what the same swap would cost elsewhere, or what you’re paying extra for it.
Several providers, one list, and more coming
We spent this year testing privacy designs, including shielded pools and other cryptographic approaches. Each one worked. Each one also asked users for a separate interface, extra wallet steps (like shielding) and its own rules.
Our routing data pointed to a simpler need. People want to move the tokens they already hold, across the networks they already use, without publicly linking the wallets involved. And they want to do it in a flow and interface they already know.
Each provider supports its own set of tokens and chains. Shielded-pool providers usually stick to a handful of major networks. Deposit-based private providers reach far more networks and tokens, and they fit into the comparison Rubic already runs for regular swaps. So that’s where we started.
Popular pairs often have several private routes, so you simply pick the best rate or the provider you prefer. Going direct, you’d have to know which service handles which route, and keep track as that changes. On Rubic, you choose the pair and see every private route available for it.
Today’s list is Houdini Swap, RocketX and ClearSwap, and it will grow. Each new provider brings its routes into the same screen, and every chain an existing provider adds appears there too. A single privacy service expands only as fast as its own team ships. Rubic expands whenever any of its providers does.
Rubic also supports Monero (XMR) and Zcash (ZEC) as destination chains. Both have privacy built into the network itself. Monero hides the sender, receiver and amount by default, and Zcash does the same for shielded addresses. Keep in mind that the protection only begins on arrival: the transaction leaving your source chain is still public. And if you’re receiving ZEC, use a shielded address, because a transparent one hides nothing.
What you can do with it
The goal is the same each time: the receiving wallet shouldn’t look like an obvious extension of the sending one. What changes is what you want to arrive.
| Action | What it does | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Private transfer | Same asset, new address | Send USDT on Tron to a fresh wallet |
| Private same-chain swap | New asset, new address, same network | Turn ETH profits into USDC in a separate wallet |
| Private cross-chain swap | New network, with or without a new asset | Move ETH from Ethereum to a Solana wallet |
Available routes depend on the tokens, networks and amount you choose.
How a private route works
A regular swap or bridge leaves a path you can follow from start to finish, even with several steps and a change of token in between.
A private route on Rubic works differently. Your sending wallet makes a deposit to the provider. The provider runs the swap or transfer through exchange liquidity and pays out to the address you chose, as a separate transaction. On-chain there’s a deposit and there’s a payout, with no direct line between them.
That holds whether you keep the same token, swap on one chain or cross to another. The separation comes from the deposit and payout, not from changing the asset. It’s also why these routes reach so many networks: they don’t need a privacy pool with its own liquidity on every chain.
What it hides, and from whom
It is about the public view. Someone watching your wallet sees a deposit go out and, somewhere else, a payout arrive. They don’t see that the two belong together.
The provider is a different matter. It handles both ends, so it knows where the funds came from and where they went, and it applies its own screening. Rubic never holds your funds.
A few things can still give you away: an unusual exact amount, a payout seconds after a deposit, or sending funds from the new wallet straight back to the old one. Private Mode doesn’t erase links you’ve already made. It stops you from adding an obvious new one.
This is pseudonymity, not anonymity. You get less attention from the market, not invisibility from auditors.
How to make a private swap on Rubic
1. Choose your pair
What you send and from which network, what you want to receive and where.
2. Compare the routes
Private routes carry a “private” label next to the regular ones. Check the amount you’ll receive and the estimated time.
3. Set the receiving address
If the point is to keep wallets separate, use one with no public history with the sending wallet.
4. Send
Follow the provider’s deposit instructions and check the details before you confirm.
The next time you move funds you’d rather not announce, check the private route first: app.rubic.exchange.
FAQ
What is Rubic Private Mode?
Private swaps and transfers from third-party providers, shown inside the main Rubic app next to regular routes. Rubic is a cross-chain and privacy aggregator; Private Mode routes swaps through third-party privacy protocols.
Which providers are available?
Houdini Swap, RocketX and ClearSwap. Available routes depend on your tokens, networks and amount. More providers will be added.
Where can I make a private crypto swap?
In the main Rubic app. Pick a pair, and private routes from Houdini Swap, RocketX and ClearSwap appear next to regular routes, labelled “private”. You compare the amount you’ll receive and the time, then choose. Rubic is an aggregator for private routes, so new providers appear on the same screen as they’re added.
Can I use it without changing tokens?
Yes. A private transfer moves the same asset to another address. You can also make a private swap on one network or across networks.
Can I swap to Monero or Zcash on Rubic?
Yes. Privacy on those chains starts once the funds arrive; the leg on the source chain stays public. For Zcash, receive to a shielded address.
Does Private Mode make my wallets untraceable?
No. It removes the direct public trail a regular transfer or swap would leave. The provider still knows both sides, and amounts, timing or later activity can reconnect the wallets.
Does a private route cost more or take longer?
It can, because the provider processes the deposit and runs the exchange. Rubic shows private and regular quotes together, so you see the difference before you choose.
